Product Introduction

Black hole quencher-2 (BHQ-2) is classified as a dark quench (non-fluorescent chromophore) and is widely used as the 3' -end quench moieties in various fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET)DNA detection probes. This probe is mainly used for nucleic acid analysis, but can also be used for nucleic acid structure studies. Examples include TaqMan probes, scorpion primers, and molecular beacons.

The absorbance of BHQ-2 is 579 nm, and the effective absorbance range is 550-650 nm. It is a quencher paired with a fluorescent dye emitted in the yellow-orange portion of the visible light range (557-617 nm). The emission spectrum of this group of dyes overlaps well with the absorption spectrum of BHQ-2, which enables the latter to extinguish the fluorescence of BHQ-2 efficiently.
